Author: Rockstar | Filed under: Uncategorized

After reading all the negative/anti-gunaah comments i finally found out that we do have fans and not just the band I have fans too people who love my lyrics, my compositions and me. So, someone just asked me to bring the rockstar back, and that particular person is my biggest fan! and if i tell you the truth i am also kinda fed up of all this 9 to 8 working life i dont write songs anymore, i dont compose and i dont even practice. After thinking about it i’ve decided i will form a band here and will do some shows in Islamabad/Rawalpindi till the day i am here. I have started working on some of my personal songs which i wrote for myself and not for Gunaah. The first song is complete just have to record it but i dont know much people her so i might have to record it on my laptop.

Oh and about the title of this post actually i am trying to quit smoking now, i really am. I’ve already decreased the number of cigarettes i used to smoke in a day so yeah lets hope for the best (fingers crossed). I have also joined a “Internet Rockstars” a program launched by www.clspk.com. I will be writing about tech and stuff maybe some CSS & Wordpress tutorials will post em here too.

The Zigron Experience

Author: Rockstar | Filed under: Greetings / Ocassions, Random-o-life

Hello People,

Alot of you asked to post some pictures of my work place and islamabad and i promised to do so but sorry i dont have any pictures yet =P i am too lazy to take pictures but yeah will do that soon.

Its been 2 weeks since i moved to Islamabad and joined Zigron and i am loving this city and my work place. The people are really cool and professional (yes shahzad its better than your workplace now F**K Off =P).

I think i should write something about  Zigron now. So, Yesterday we had a Team Building Training / Exercise at Zigron. This happens at zigron every month and this time i was a part of it too. I was totally clue less what is it all about and then it happened and it was fun. The HR people gave us 3 exercices one after another.

The first one called “Save the egg” the hr people gave us an egg, 5 straws and a plastic tape and we had to make a shield around it so when they throw the egg it remains unbroken.. my team lost it =P.

The second was “Fill the balloons” (Interesting! isnt it?). We had 5 balloons to fill with air and we did on time and we we won!

The third and last one was kinda interesting. The HR people gave us a big sheet and asked us to write down the names of every person who  is working at zigron + one good thing about him/her. I couldn’t participate in this game as i am new guy there and hardly know 5 people so yeah i was outta it but my team filled the sheet.

Every task was related to team work in a sense like we lost the first game because we didnt discuss what to do and just did it and the result was a broken egg on the floor but then in the other 2 games we did short meetings and shared responsibilites and completed the task on time.  =)

So yeah this event was interesting like really really interesting. I am still waiting for the pictures, i will post them as soon as i get em. till then rock on bitches! =P

Bye Bye Karachi, Hello Islamabad!

Author: Rockstar | Filed under: Gunaah, Random-o-life

Okay, as most my friends (including my online friends) dont know about this i thought i should write a post about this on my blog.

I am moving to Islamabad this friday. Yes! I got a job there, i will be working for Zigron Inc. as an “Associate User Experience / Web Designer”. This happened last month but as you all know i am too lazy i didnt even post about it anywhere. Alot of people asked me if i can get a good job here then why am i going to Islamabad? well, the answer is “I dont know!” i seriously dont.. maybe i am going there to experience another part of life or maybe  i am just going there to explorer myself more. I read about Zigron on a couple of websites i applied and they hired me (after a telephonic interview =P)  and i was like lets give it a try dude. I will be living in a hostel for the time being and then maybe next month i will look out for a room on rent (yes i have privacy issues). Aur wesse bhi i always wanted to spend some time in Islamabad i love the city, the greenery all over the city, no traffic and above all this its secure .. no mobile snatching baby!

What about Gunaah?
We have decided that all of us will take a break from this music scene for a while so we can concentrate on our studies/careers and then maybe after a few months we will get back and start recording the album. We might do a few shows when i am in karachi. Zain said hes gonna record some of the originals in his own little studio and will upload it so people can get an idea what are we working on. Its a good idea zainee!

Oh and other than this i have been spending all my nights finishing my freelance projects and watching movies. I bought around 100 dvd’s in last 2 months lol i’ve become a movie freak (kinda) :P. I guess thats it for now folks gotta get back to work.

Gunaah - The New Version of Noori

Author: Rockstar | Filed under: Gunaah, Rock 'N' Roll

Here Comes The Next Contestant

One day, while waiting patiently for my breakfast. I was surfing for underground bands from Karachi on internet. I was looking for a band which has potential to perform live and has guts and talent to take over Noori’s audience. Many bands came into my eyes I downloaded their songs; I swear that was the worst music I have ever listened. I was very disappointed by the boys who think that they are musicians.

Then my search goes to facebook.com there I found Hassan, Gunaah’s vocalist. About couple of months ago I had listened to there song “AXAAB”, It was nice. I surfed their blog and was really impressed by the making of the band. One was in, one was out and one was also kicked out by them. But the good news was finally they have completed the band.

I feel no pain if I appreciate and admire someone. So I write to Hassan that that you people are doing great. I was gifted something very special by Hassan. That was there live cover performance of Sajjad Ali’s “Bolo Bolo”. So today I am here to write about what I feel about the bad but talented boys of the band Gunaah.

I would like to start from the song, which I listened first that is Axaab.

AXAAB (live at Summer of Rock ‘n’ Roll)  |  Download
Axaab is a song that we’ll enjoy listening because of the excellent musicianship and lyrics, well crafted arrangement, and emotions the different parts transmit. The main theme of the song is they are calling youth to get united. In first phase they were telling youth to be unite and in second phase they are saying what should we do and what we will. The theme of the song is quite like Noori’s Nishaan and Call’s Pukaar. Lyrics are originally there own and boys are using right medium to express their feelings and giving a good message through music. The thing which I noticed first was the way song starts. It is quite like many other Pakistani Rock numbers, but it is nice. Their Lyrics, I must write some good thing about it, it was not like other underground bands. Lyrics are mature and make us feel that yes, they are true. And song is very nicely composed. Drum sequence is awesome and I think that the energy which everyone feels is more by the Drummer, Qumber. Zain, band’s lead guitarist, is an asset for Gunaah. He plays professionally. And yeah, that is Zain who makes us feel that we are in a rock show and listening to rock music. Some about Bass, it is nicely played in this live version. Mature vocals of Hassan are like fire for the finest fuel. His un-tuned vocals are nice. I think this is the big complement for him.

BOLO BOLO (Cover - live at PAF Kiet)  |  Download
Cover songs can be good and they can be bad. Well Bolo Bolo is one of the songs which always make you feel that the person who is performing is disappointed of his girl friend. And the way band performed it, at very first you would say somebody stop them other wise they will kill her. But this does not mean that it is a perfect song. If we scale their number with EP’s cover of same song. In some part EP takes lead and in some Gunaah. There is need for them to re-arrange it properly. If you think that song is good then it is all because of their music. About its music I can say it is their genuine music. I must say, Zain is dominating and in some parts Qumber, the sinner drummer, and his smashes.

SARD RAATEIN
Sard Raatein, a romantic number by Gunaah. There are certain things we Karachities can count on as we are in winter month; cold temperatures, gusty winds, shorter days, a general longing to stay indoors and Sard Rateein. It is the best song for winter season. As we all know band has not recorded any song yet. All the songs available are the live performances of them. Sound Quality of “Sard Raatein” is not very much clear. Perhaps it is this intimate nature of the lyrics that makes the guitar so ideally suited to accompaniment of the human voice. The challenge for the guitarist is that he is contrasted with the most beautiful of all instruments. The opening of sard raatein is awesome. As an avid music listener for the past several years, I have become a great admirer of Gunaah’s music. Zain is playing various styles in this track. He is the most passive person in the band. Band should also release the instrumental of this song and it will strike listeners and will be added into their play list. And will be their best song till winter. They are going to listen it on repeat. In the end, Come on Ladies, it is for you.

Market is open for the sinners. They should work hard to get Noori’s audience. Make Karachities feel proud on them. They should keep Noori’s good wishes with them selves but not their blessing upon them. Don’t compare yourself with any one in this world. If you do so, you are insulting yourself.

Like many others I also feel that the thing which was behind Noori’s fame was Gumby factor. Their drummer, Qumber, is the finest and plays fast. He can play as Gumby for them. Even they should feel that Gumby is with them.

Is waqiye ne sarah ki zindagi ko jesse khatam hee kardia ho. Woh ek essi kitab ban chuki thee jis mai safhe tau kayee thee magar kore, uss ki zindagi mai subha tau hoti thee lekin be-roshni, geet tau thee magar be-suray.

Lekin aaj ek baar phir zindagi usse us shaks ke saamne khara kar gaye the. Woh aaj bhi wesse hee tha, chehre pe muskaan, pur noor chehra, aur tareeke se sajaye hue baal.

Imran:  “Sarah, kessi ho tum?”

Sarah: “nahi imran, kuch bhi wessa nahi raha sab badal chuka hai sab kuch, main bhi”

Sarah:  “nahi imran main tumse kion naraz rahungi? narazgi tau un se hoti jin se manane ki umeed rakhi jaa sake aur tum tau huh choro”

Imran:  “Sarah shayad tumhai nahi pata lekin mera America jana buhat zaroori tha ammi ki tabiyat achanak kharab hogayee thee woh apni zindagi ki aakhri saansein gin rahi thee aur woh chahti thee ke main ek baar un se mil loun, lekin ab mai wapas agaya hun sarah ek baar phir.

Sarah:  “nahi imran ab yeh na-mumkin hai kion ke meri, meri…”

“Mrs. Omair yeh raha aap ka parcel” baire ne ek parcel Sarah ke haathoun mai dete hue kaha.

Imran:  “Mrs. Omair? kiya? Sarah?”

Sarah:  “han imran mai tumhai yahee batana chahti thee”

Imran:  “lekin sarah tumne mera intezaar nahi kia? kia tumhai mujh par bilkul bhi bharosa nahi tha?”

Sarah:  “aitbaar tau tha lekin uss aitbaar ko tora bhi tumne, maine intezaar tau kia lekin tumne hee koi sada na di, yeh tak nahi socha ke mera kia hoga, woh sarah jo tumhare bagher ek pal nahi guzar sakti thee kesse itna arsa guzara hoga, na koi phone, na koi khat, aakhir kis pe karti aitbaar mai? aur phir ek din amma ne mujhe Omair ke baare mai bataya aur main amma ko mana nahi kar payee”.

Sarah bolti gayee lekin imran ke kaan jesse bund hogayee uss ke kaanoun mai sirf ek hee awaz goonj rahi thee “Main tumhari hun Imran, sirf aur sirf tumhari”.

Gunaah - The Story

Author: Rockstar | Filed under: Gunaah

I found this story in my computer i wrote this last year i guess for some music website. It sounds funny lol.
PS: I’ve edited the story! and Please avoid the mistakes =P

Gunaah - And it begins:

Gunaah - The Freedom Fighters

Current Line Up:

Hassan Sarwar
- Vocals & Compositions
Zain Kazmi - Lead Guitars.
Sarim Shafi - Rhythm Guitars
Yasir Siddiqui - Bass
Qumber Kazmi - Drums

Ex-Band Members:
Bilal Ahmad
- Rhythm Guitars
Fabian - Lead Guitars
Arnold Nathaniel - Bass Guitars
Salman Islam - Lead Guitars
Ghaxi Ausaf - Rhythm Guitars
Adil Abbas - Rhythm Guitars

Gunaah is the brainchild of vocalist Hassan Sarwar. The idea of forming a band struck him in 2004 when he saw his favourite band “Noori” live. Since then he personally started writing songs and composing them. He formed the band with Salman Islam, Ghaxi Ausaf & Adil Abbas in the same year. Unfortunately, none of the members were able to give time to the band because of their studies & jobs. Thus, the story ended in a few months.

Hassan never thought of forming a band again, until he found Qumber Kazmi in 2006 on a social networking website. He was shocked to see that a guy of his age playing drums while working for a band called “Talab”. He asked Qumber if he would like to join his band and do something more interesting. Soon, Qumber decided to join the band. The band then started looking for a lead guitarist and a bassist. Few days later, Hassan met Zain Kazmi, Qumber Kazmi’s elder brother at his place and got to know that Zain’s doing rhythm guitars in “Talab”. Zain was interested in playing for “Gunaah”, so he came on board and helped us in search of a bassist and lead guitarist. Zain told Hassan that he knows a bassist who lives in the same area where he lives. That’s how the band met Arnold Nathaniel. The band told him about the problem and according to him he was up for it. The next morning Arnold came along with his cousin Fabian and introduced him as the lead guitarist. The band was all complete when they started practicing day and night. Jamming 10 hours they had the passion and dream to become one of the best rock bands in Pakistan.

Hassan used to work for a Noori fan site called “NooriFreax”. One day he got a call from the administrator of that fan site saying that he wants Gunnaah to perform some songs of Noori and that he will add the performance in a documentary which Noori was making for his first Canadian tour. The first performance went pretty good.

A few days later the band came to know about a battle of the bands which was being organized by a famous Pakistani music channel “Play TV”. The band thought to give it a try and they registered Gunaah. By that time Arnold, the bassist had started behaving like he is not interested in the band. Finally, the band decided to kick him out and got Yasir Siddiqui as the new bassist of the band just a few hours before the show. The practice wasn’t well even. Everyone was nervous before the performance. The band was on top of the list and was going to open the show. They started with an instrumental which went pretty good. After that it was ‘Sard Raatein’, an original song of the band. It started all good but due to Hassan’s nervousness he screwed up the song a few times. They also did a cover of Noori’s song “Saari Raat Jaga” and again screwed it up. People started making fun of them and called them out by names. The band was really disheartened but with the hope that they can do better they started practicing again their passion to make themselves better at this job.

A few weeks later Fabian left the band because of some personal issues. The band started looking for a new lead guitarist but couldn’t find any. So, their last hope was Zain Kazmi, the rhythm guitarist of Gunaah that time. The band members asked Zain to do leads. He didn’t have any idea how to play guitar solos but as he was playing since 3 years he decided to take the responsibility of leads very seriously. The band did a jamming session at the G’ basement with an underground band ‘Jhoot’. This was to practice the current rockers of Gunaah. The gig went pretty good and the band was satisfied with their performance. They started doing gigs ‘n’ shows and started covering songs from different bands and genres. Side by side they kept on working on their originals and never looked back.

March ‘08 Bilal Ahmad joined the band as the rhythm guitarist to improve the sound of the band. They did the first gig with new line-up on 19th April at Second Floor with a mainstream band “Gurus Trilogy”. The performance was praised by the crowd. Some more big shows happened afterwards including Summer Jam ‘08 and Rock Night. In October ‘08 Bilal moved to Sweden and once again the band started looking for a rhythm guitarist. Sarim Shafi, who was interested in joining the band since more than a year is now on board. The band is all complete again and doing shows all over Karachi. All the Sinners of Gunaah have just one message to spread around this world “KEEP ON ROCKING IN THE FREE WORLD”.

Current Situtation:
The band is working on the original songs and getting ready to hide themselves in the studio for a couple of months so they can complete their debut album entitled “Talash-e-Noor”. The first video is expected to be release around March ‘09.
